ATLASea genomic data are released to the scientific community through public repositories. We promote transparency, data sharing and the responsible use of our genomic resources. To ensure fairness and recognition, we ask users to adhere to the following principles, which align with established genomics standards.
About the ATLASea Programme
The ATLASea Programme aims to generate and analyse 4,500 reference genomes of marine eukaryotic species observed in the French Exclusive Economic Zone (EEZ) over an eight-year period.
As the main exclusively marine genomics initiative under the Earth Biogenome Project (EBP), ATLASea is at the forefront of large-scale marine genome production, prerequisite for innovation and discovery in marine biodiversity.
Our Commitment to Excellence
ATLASea has developed robust tools and workflows to ensure end-to-end traceability of marine samples and analyses – from collection to final genome delivery.
These systems streamline compliance with international data standards, FAIR principles (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable), and Open Science practices. This commitment enables the large-scale dissemination of high-quality genomic resources to the global scientific community.
All high-quality genome assemblies produced by ATLASea are submitted to public repositories such as European Nucleotide Archive (ENA), and made freely accessible to researchers and other stakeholders worldwide.
Explore Our Data
The ATLASea Public Data portal offers a user-friendly interface to monitor the progress of the project.
Users can:
- Query for species already collected or under study by ATLASea;
- Explore sampling sites;
- Access taxonomic and biodiversity information;
- Track genome sequencing progress;
- Follow links to raw sequence reads, assembled genomes and gene annotations.
1. Proper Attribution
- The source of data must be adequately cited in any publication or communication.
- Dataset accession numbers must be included in all publication.
- All contributors to data generation and analysis must be fairly credited.
- The ATLASea programme must be acknowledged in any communication, using the following statement:
« The ATLASea Consortium (zenodo ref[CC1] ) is supported by the French State, managed by the National Research Agency (ANR) under the France 2030 investment plan, with the following references: « ANR-22-EXAT-0001 », « ANR-22-EXAT-0002 », « ANR-22-EXAT-0003 », « ANR-22-EXAT-0004 ».
For scientific articles specifically, this statement must be included either in the acknowledgements section or in a section dedicated to funding details.
2. Multi-genomes analyses
ATLASea plans to coordinate the analysis of marine genomes produced by the programme globally. Groups considering the analysis of sequencing, assembly or annotation data concerning several genomes produced by ATLASea are invited to first contact data(at)atlasea.fr to coordinate work.
3. Compliance with FAIR and Open Science Principles
All publications and communication must adhere to FAIR and Open Science principles.
4. Respect for First Presentation Rights
ATLASea reserves the right to impose an embargo period of up to one year on genome sequences to ensure that our rights of first presentation (e.g. scientific publication, preprints, press release) are respected. Any restrictions during the publication embargo period will be clearly communicated.
